Mr. Kim, the governor of Gyeonggi-do showed an interest in handcrafting car, “SPIRRA”

Mr. Kim who is the governor of Gyeonggi-do showed an interest in handcrafting car, SPIRRA during “The 5^th exhibition of small and medium enterprises’ products (4.23~5.9)”. This exhibition is held in Gwangju-shi every year with and event of “The Loyal ceramics festival”, and contributes to the local community and economy.

Oullimnetworks Co,. Ltd explained that they decided to participate in this exhibition for the pride as their manufacturing factory and R&D center are located in Gwangju.

The governor of Gyeonggi-do and Mr. Jo the mayor of Gwangju-si attended at its open ceremony. Mr. Kim said that “I did not know this handcrafting vehicle company is in Korea, but it is so proud of it is in Gyeonggi-do.” He also asked the factory’s address to visit later.

One of Oullim’s officials invited to go for the effect of killing two birds with one stone because visitors can see SPIRRA in the flesh and there are many events and spectacles.

MOU contract with MFS – golf items

It was announced that Oullimnetworks Co,. Ltd made a MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) with MFS corporation, a manufacturer of golf items on 27 April 2010.

SPIRRA’s BI and emblem are grafted onto golf items. They will manufacture and distribute the items and cooperate each other for online and offline marketing.

New products such as golf clubs and golf accessories which are grafted onto driver, hybrid head in the development process by MFS R&D team in America, will be released during the second half of this year. In addition, the companies will carry forward to establish a business strategic alliance connected with golf.

Mr. Park, the CEO of Oullimnetworks Co,. Ltd said “Our SPIRRA business is not interested in sale of cars. We will do our best for higher SPIRRA’s brand value through various co-marketing like MOU, also try to increase a sales and profitability as well. I expect this contract has a meaning of that Korean technology’s excellence is evangelized around the world.”

SPIRRA Models’ specifications and performances

SPIRRA is regarded as a vehicle which has the similar performance like well known supercars, “Lamborghini” or “Ferrari”. The carbon fiber material is expensive comparing to other materials but as it is light, it is suitable for sports car. When a car equipped with a carbon fiber body kit is faster than a car equipped with a steel body kit. SPIRRA’s weight is 1320~1450kg similar to the standard sedan cars such as “Sonata” or “SM5”. As SPIRRA can be drove more than 11km with 1ℓ of fuel, it is said a fuel-efficient car.

SPIRRA models prices are N: 79,000,000 won, S: 89,000,000 won, T: 127,000,000 won, EX: 160,000,000 won and 3.8 GT: 211,400,000 ~ 216,600,000 won (all excluding surtax).

SPIRRA N model which is not a tuned up model has 180 h.p and 250 km/h speed. This model has a lower specification comparing to other SPIRRA models, but its basic structure (a space frame, a midship layout and a carbon fiber body) is the same.

SPIRRA S is expected to be the most popular model. It was priced down from 109,000,000 won due to lower unit price and supply of parts. There is a change in specification too. Previously, super charger engine was installed and has approx. 400 h.p however, it has 330 h.p with a turbo charger engine. Also, its max speed and max power are 280km and 330h.p each.

Also, SPIRRA Turbo model’s speed is over 300km also, its max power and 0->100km speed are 420 h.p and 4 seconds each.

Moreover, SPIRRA EX, the best performance and specification model was showed as a red sports car at the launching show last month. Interior was decorated with beige color of leather, RECARO brand of a bucket seat, an OMP 4points seatbelt, MOMO brand of a steering wheel. There is a car PC for bluetooth and navigation functions. This model’s max speed is going up to 350 km/h from 315km/h after tuning up a twin turbo charger engine. In addition, its max power, max torque and 0->100km speed are 500 h.p, 55kg·m and 3.5 seconds each.

Lastly, 3.8 GT turbo is a racing car model which has the max speed of 312km, the max 500 h.p, the max torque 66.kg·m, and 3.4 seconds of 0->100km speed.

There are tuning packages reserved for SPIRRA only including ‘The dress-up package’ to alter its aero-parts, ‘The engine tuning’ to upgrade its performance and ‘The interior package’ to connect a smart phone etc. The service centers are located in Seongsu-dong and Yangjae-dong Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju and Daejeon etc.

The sales target is over 100 cars for this year, and it is expected to be sold over 200 cars per year from 2011. Currently, it takes about 2 months to deliver from an order. The maximum capacity is 342 cars per year now.

“Oullim is speeding up SPIRRA-EV development”

The CEO of Oullim Networks Co., Ltd., Mr. Park announced that “As gasoline SPIRRA was developed, we are now speeding up electric vehicle’s development this year. We are planning to show the first prototype of SPIRRA EV based on local specifications between this August and September, and its price will be approximately one hundred million won. When it is developed and released in Korea, it will be launched in North America.”

“SPIRRA was launched at 29th March” in Seoul

At 16^th March 2010, it was announced that SPIRRA of Oullim Networks Co., Ltd is ready to be sold. Also, the launching show for SPIRRA was held at the “EL tower”, located in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, Korea on 29^th March 2010.

SPIRRA EX, the best performance model and only shown through the media and press, was exposed at the launching show in real.

Especially, the remarkable interior tuning package was shown in the show. The interior decoration of SPIRRA was changed to be refined and future-oriented accordance with public opinion which it is not enough compared with the exterior. This interior in the image was shown through SPIRRA EX at the launching show.

Also, Oullim set the A/S policy. Legally selling vehicles’ engines and dynamometers are warranted for three years/60,000 km under the policy. Currently, five A/S centers are located in Korea and still recruiting more centers. Information on their locations was provided at the launching show.

The CEO of Oullim Networks Co., Ltd., Mr. Park said, “This is the crowning moment which I have been waiting for the most since start of SPIRRA business. There were a lot of misunderstandings and distrust, however I really appreciate people who believe us and waiting for SPIRRA up to now. Honestly, I had a number of worries especially, prices on SPIRRA models above all things. I will announce that the SPIRRA S price is lower than one hundred million won.”

From the next day of launching show, 30^th March, SPIRRA showroom located in 3-13 Yangjae-dong Seoul was officially opened and the SPIRRA EX car launched at the show is positioned in the showroom for customers.

SPIRRA is ready to sell in Korea as it was passed the vehicle safety standards homologation.

At 12 March 2010, it was announced that hand-made sports car from Oullim Networks Co., Ltd, SPIRRA was took the head-on impact test twice for vehicle performance tests and passed the Korean vehicle safety standards homologation.

To sell vehicles made, assembled in Korea or imported to Korea legally, they should be certified the self-certification system enforced since 2003 to comply with vehicle safety standards. Therefore, SPIRRA had to be taken over 40 tests for frond, back and side impacts, braking power, and absorbing impact of gauge-panel (instrument panel) etc. Finally, all tests were completed by the end of 2^nd head-on impact test.

SPIRRA was already passed EU homologation during July, 2009. In addition, all tests for some countries which have no regulations for small production of cars, but they are regarded as the same level of safety standards for mass production of cars. It may be an opportunity to dispel worries about safety of vehicles which are developed and produced by new start-ups.
